Questions people ask
Four answers per solution, and each one is the same answer support would give you.
Is running my own VPN legal in these countries?
Hosting a VPN is legal in every country we operate in, and the acceptable use policy explicitly allows it. What differs is what happens around it: the Netherlands imposes no logging duty, Switzerland sits outside the EU, and UAE law restricts consumer VPN use — which is why the policy pages name the exceptions.
Which site should I pick for my exit?
Choose by who you want to appear to be, then by latency. Amsterdam and Zurich are the popular picks for privacy-minded exits; Frankfurt for low latency across Europe; London, New York, Tokyo and Seoul for appearing local to those countries' services.
How much traffic does a personal VPN actually use?
A heavily used personal tunnel — laptops, phones, the odd 4K stream — typically lands between 100 and 400 GB a month. The Nano's 2 TB is a multiplier of several, and if you somehow exhaust it, traffic resets monthly with the term.
WireGuard is fast, but is it the best choice for me?
For a personal VPN, almost always. If you need application-level filtering, ad-blocking DNS or multi-user management, wg-easy plus a Pi-hole container (see the Docker solution) covers it. If you need obfuscation against deep packet inspection, that is a different product than we sell.
