Why Stockholm?

Stockholm went live in 2026 in STO1 in Kista, the suburb that has been Sweden's telecom valley since Ericsson planted the flag there in the 1970s. We lit Netnod, our first Swedish exchange, signed Arelion and Telia, and the first ping to Helsinki came back at 3 ms — a number that flatters the Baltic in winter and summer alike.

The site carries 0.28 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 3 ms local median, with 10 ms to Warsaw and 14 to Frankfurt. It is the Nordics' cleanest exchange, and it exists so users in Sweden, Norway and the Baltic states can get a domestic rack instead of an Amsterdam round trip — at the same €1.90 the Dutch pay.

Questions about Stockholm

The two answers people actually ask about this site, then the five we give everywhere.

This site

Stockholm or Helsinki for the Nordics?
Three milliseconds apart, so choose the country, not the hop. Stockholm is the larger site at 0.28 Tbit/s on Netnod; Helsinki runs 0.24 Tbit/s on FICIX. Stockholm reaches western Europe a touch faster — 14 ms to Frankfurt against Helsinki's 15 — while Helsinki carries the eastern routes, 150 ms to Seoul against Stockholm's 152.
Why does a Nordic server cost the same as Frankfurt?
Because we do not run regional pricing, and the accounting department has made its peace with that. The flat price is the product: a Nano costs €1.90 in Stockholm and in São Paulo alike. If Nordic power or cold climate ever made the difference, it would be visible in the price list, and it is not.

Everywhere

Which region should I pick?
Measure, then read. Median RTT decides most cases: pick the site closest to the users you already have, then check the local law if that matters to your data. We do not charge a regional premium, so the decision is never financial.
Is the price the same in every location?
Yes. A Nano costs €1.90 per month in Frankfurt and in São Paulo. There is no regional pricing tier, no 'emerging market' discount and no 'premium location' markup to optimise around.
Can I move a server to another site later?
Take a snapshot, deploy the same image at the destination, restore, update the DNS. The console does not yet automate the migration end-to-end, but nothing about the price changes if you redeploy somewhere else.
Is DDoS protection included?
Standard volumetric filtering is always on and always free at every site. If you need application-layer scrubbing with custom rules, the Advanced tier costs €3.90 per month per server.
What IP addresses do I get?
Every server ships with one dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6, both announced from the site you chose. Additional IPv4s are €1.20 per month each, up to eight per server.

Payments from Sweden

Orders from Sweden are handled exactly like every other order: checkout in euros, payment in Bitcoin, Monero or any of twenty-four assets, and the server provisions on the first network confirmation. No card, no bank, no name that has to match one.

Two decisions, then a network

Pick a size, pick a site, pay in crypto. Moving later is one snapshot and a redeploy away.
